Wolf Kissers - How to Get to First Base with a Wolf

Here is the famous link as to why I nicknamed the pro-wolf crowd wolf kissers. I know other people have called the pro-wolf crowd wolf kissers, because it seams like they just want to cuddle up with the wolf and give it kisses. But now the mystery is solved in this internet posting on Restoration or Destruction: The Controversy over Wolf Reintroduction.

While there is a lot of material in this posting for me to lampoon, I will start with the first topic of how to get to first base with a wolf.

The audience sat on the floor quietly in a big circle, squinting in the dim light. Wolves find large groups of standing people intimidating, and they dislike loud noises and sudden movements. Finally, we were deemed quiet enough, and the representatives from Mission:Wolf, a Colorado nonprofit wolf rescue facility, brought in two of their ambassador wolves on leads. As the wolves walked around the circle, occasionally sniffing audience members or licking someone’s teeth (a standard wolf greeting), we were told that these are teenage wolves. They are already starting to lose interest in humans, and when fully grown they will probably ignore us.

I have some beach front property in Arizona for these guys. It is clear they know so little about the dog families behaviors and take the BS they are feed and eat it with smiles on their faces.

The licking is not a standard wolf greeting. It is a greeting a submissive member gives to the more alpha members of the pack when they feel they need to show submission to a leader. The submissive member licks inside the alphas mouth only, if the alpha allows it.   The alpha can easly snap down on the submissive member’s snout causing injury.

So it is not necessarily that they would loose interest in humans, it is more likely they just do not want to submit any more as they reach maturity.

After a few minutes, the Mission:Wolf representatives called the wolves to the middle of the room, had them jump up on tables to show us how agile they were, and do a few tricks. Finally, the wolves lay down on the floor, looking bored.

These wolves are very habitual and have learned no fear of man. I hope they are not releasing any of these to the wilds.

I was one of those lucky enough to have my teeth licked, which isn’t as bad as it sounds. I couldn’t imagine how people could look at these amazing animals and see nothing but cruel, vicious predators. My attitude is common among people who have grown up in urban environments, far from the people whose lives and livelihoods are affected by wolves.

The reason people see wolves as cruel and vicious predators is they slow down their prey and just start feeding. Sometimes wolves touché their prey for days while striping off flesh.  Here is a story on another site with photographs showing how wolves do kill.  Does this look like a cruel way to go?

I am glad you felt lucky. I wonder if it was good for the wolf?

I just chuckle at the most common dog greeting which is sniffing butts. Anyone that knows dogs or members of the dog family has seen the butt sniffing behavior.

Do you really know where that nose and tongue were prior getting your wolf French kiss?
