The Three Evil Monkeys of Wolf Management; Hear No Evil, See No Evil and Report No Evil

Posted in Wolf Politics, EnvironMental, Wolf Wild Side, Logic Fringe, Endangered Species Act (ESA) on May 22nd, 2007 by Wild

A recent email about the current wolf problems going on this week with many livestock kills and humans being harassed on their own property by wolves.  Yet the three evil monkeys of the wolf management organizations here working together continue to see no evil, hear no evil and report no evil.

Three Monkeys of Wolf Management

So when cattle get killed here, is it tight lipped, no help for the tax paying people. US Fish and Wildlife service report no evil. When wolves are denning near someone’s home and the home owner asks them to remove the dangerous horse slaughtering wolves New Mexico Game and Fish, see no evil. When the wolves are hanging out and howling around people’s homes, Arizona Department of Game and Fish hear no evil and nothing is done.

But all three of these monkeys will write down some evil propaganda and put it out there for people to read. The truth is so slanted and some words can now be considered lies based on their current news and three monkeys handling of wolf management here in the southwest. Maybe they could consider adding a forth monkey of write no evil.

With all these habituated wolves running around, I headed to one of the three monkeys of wolf management “expert” websites had to say about wolf behavior and habituation.  I did not have to look far as “the hear no evil monkey” wolf propaganda website (that would be Arizona Department of Game and Fish) served up a dish showing a typical monkey wolf spin.

Here is an example from the monkey’s website

Wolves can become acclimated to humans if fed, just like bears, foxes and coyotes. Fortunately, Mexican wolf range does not overlap with significant human population centers. However, the potential for acclimation and its related problems still exist at developed and dispersed campgrounds within the Mexican wolf reintroduction area. Once acclimated to humans, wolves pose a higher risk of causing damage to pet dogs, people and themselves.

This evil monkey make claims about proper management and limiting negative interactions or dependencies but it is all lies (oops talk) and no action. They talk about acclimation to people but not how they have reinforced and assisted habituation these wolves.

Where as they claim that Mexican wolf range does not overlap with significant human population centers. But currently we have three different wolf packs howling in people’s yards. I am sure if it was their yard it would be significant. I am sure a mouse or even termites in their home would be significant let alone a wolf howling outside with children in the home.

Nothing has been done by the monkey wolf “managers” to discourage the wolves from hanging around people’s homes and they certainly have not returned any to captivity without more than 3 strikes against them and then only if we are lucky and the stars are in the proper alignment.

The horse slaughtering Aspen wolf pack that attacked near a child is now denning within ¼ mile of private land with a home.

The home owners asked New Mexico Game and Fish to remove these wolves and the agency decided that wolves’ denning within ¼ mile of private land is considered acceptable and not a threat to human safety.

I guess they just could not see the evil here.

It is obvious these wolves are not just acclimated but full habituated and present a serious risk to all people living in and around the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area.

Continuing the monkey management wolf spin on the next paragraph “hear no evil” says

Although a free-ranging Mexican wolf has never injured anyone, they need to be managed like other wildlife to limit the potential for negative interactions or dependencies. Over the course of the current reintroduction project, some Mexican wolves that had become acclimated to people and frequented campsites could not be discouraged from the area, even after intensive hazing responses. These wolves had to be recaptured and returned to captivity. Other wolves that moved to areas near humans experienced extremely high mortality rates and died before they could be recaptured.

How interesting that Arizona game and fish put out this wolf propaganda but they lied by not including the injuries in a biting incident to one of the IFT members. I guess IFT members do not count as “anyone”.  Some of us have claimed they were not quite human.

I wonder how many other attacks or injuries that have been caused by these Mexican gray wolves that is being covered up since they tried pretty hard to cover up this being bit.

The three evil monkeys worked so hard in the bite cover-up they even went so far, as rumored, to letting this wolf bitten woman go this month. So now she is out of the program. I wonder why and what the report no evil spin on that will be.

But the Evil Monkeys stumbled and bumbled as usual. Report No Evil FWS even claimed to the papers there was no bite. The claims shifted as to what type of injury occurred maybe even a scrape. I guess often Fish and Wildlife Services often is all three evil monkeys in one.

Why with all the current habituated behavior we are experience with these Mexican gray wolves the monkeys will not do as they claim and recapture these problem wolves and return them to captivity as they promise in their web propaganda?  I guess they would have do some reporting or seeing of evil.

Of course they have done nothing to remove not only 3 strike wolves (saddle pack), let alone that Aspen Pack horse slaughtering male that the wolf managers promised the press they would remove in January 2007. Ah but they wanted him to stick around to breed with the female. He did then she replaced him with a new alpha male. Let that be a lesson to you evil male monkeys in the program. Since he has no collar no one knows where this dangerous habitual wolf is now. No they cannot even track any evil.

Three evil monkeys and their propaganda machine.

But to make things worse now the wolf plane is not even circling to let people know how close the wolves are to them. See no evil again.

Continuing with reading what the “hear no evil monkey” has to say about safety.

Wolves in other parts of the U.S. also pose little, if any, threat to human safety, unless they are sick, injured or cornered. Dogs, captive wolves and wolf-dog hybrids pose a much more significant risk to human safety, especially if “released.”

It is clear from all these paragraphs that the monkey knows little about wolf behavior and habituation.

I wonder how this statement fits with the re-release of their captive 924 Durango female that is hanging around homes and has already committed not just one but many more livestock kills since being released and dumping her babies as she high tailed it out of the wilderness to her old howling grounds. Of course she is the habituated wolf that bit someone so I am kind of glad she is not passing along those wonderful genes.

The whole line about “captive wolves” just adds to the absurdity of the wolf propaganda.   After all the wolves these monkeys released here were raised and habituated in captivity. Why do you think they are hanging around our homes?

Then there are some pretty solid claims from many of the x-program biologists about the Ghost Ranch and Aragon lines and how there is dog mixed in the breeding. Last I heard that would make them HYBRIDS ergo more dangerious per “hear no evil” website.  Maybe ”hear no evil” did not hear that they were not to report that evil?  But again hear no, see no and report no evil and continue on breeding these hybrids and calling them wolves.

I guess the breeders of these hybrids could also see no dog, as discussed in Range Magazine’s article titled “Gov’ment Wolves or Feral Dogs?”

In 1979 the participants at a Mexican wolf workshop, organized by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS), concluded that the Ghost Ranch lineage wasn’t fit for inclusion in the recovery program. Although the skull of the founding male of the line had inconveniently disappeared from the Desert Museum before it could be analyzed, the workshop participants concluded that many of the Ghost Ranch animals showed definite dog characteristics.

Jack B. Woody of the FWS wrote about the workshop’s recommendations in a 1986 status report on the recovery program: “Wanting to protect the genetic purity of the wolves used as founders for the Mexican Wolf Recovery Program, it was concluded that, for the time being, the only wolves that can be accepted by the program are those that come from the wild range of the subspecies in Mexico.”

Roy McBride, world-renowned large predator expert from Alpine, Texas, recalls attending numerous wolf recovery meetings in which the question was asked: Can we use the Ghost Ranch or any other captive lineage in the recovery program?

“It was unanimous,” says McBride. “They’d looked at all the ones in captivity and decided they weren’t pure wolves. So they sent me to Mexico to catch some real ones.”

This three monkey management is with no sensitivity as our New Mexican Governor Bill Richardson now presidential candidate asked New Mexico Game and Fish to exhibit in managing the wolf program.

“I am reaffirming my support for the effective recovery of Mexican wolves in the Southwest, done in a responsible and sensitive way. Toward that end, I have directed the State Game Commission and the Department of Game and Fish to redouble their efforts to work with all interests to promote healthy wolf populations living in reasonable compatibility with our communities and land stewards in New Mexico . This will take understanding, creativity, tolerance, and mutual respect among all involved. We need your cooperation to find ways for indigenous wildlife species and our ranching communities to coexist. Please work together today to advance those principles and to consider productive next steps.”

I wonder if Bill Richardson knows what his evil monkeys are doing to rural residents or is he the evil monkey photographer master. Looking at the monkeys through the lens and saying lets not really tell them what is going on in New Mexico lets let them see the “hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil” image of the wolf program.   Mr. Richardson also does not see the evil that these habituated wolves are hanging around people’s homes not just ranches.

Either way Bill Richardson is unaware of of the dammage his state employees are inflicting people in his state or Bill Richardson is the monkey master driving rural people off their land in his own evil form of rural cleansing. Do no evil Bill, I guess you missed that class in school that day.

Wolf Mangers Say the Mexican Gray Wolf Bit the Horse’s Throat in Defense

Posted in Wolf Wild Side on May 20th, 2007 by Black Wolf

It is common for US Fish and Wildlife to white wash many of their incidents but in an old report I was reading is another walk on the wild side of reality in the Mexican Wolf Program.

from the Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Update October 20 - November 1, 2001

WOLF INCIDENTS (This was inadvertently omitted in the previous report). On September 25 a depredation report was received from the owners of the Pioneer Stables located at Hannigan Meadow. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that a wolf attacked and bit one of their horses in the throat while in a corral. At the time of the investigation, there were no radio collared wolves in the area so we were unable to etermine [sic. determine] which wolf was responsible for the attack. From evidence at the scene, including the bite wound, it appears that the wolf may have behaved in a defensive reaction (i.e., the horse was charging the wolf) and apparently, the horse had a history of chasing dogs. The horse was treated by a veterinarian and is expected to make a full recovery…

This was from a real report…the only correction is above with the [sic]

Now, let me get the simplistic facts straight here: the wolf was in the horses corral, and the wolf bites horse in throat after no doubt terrorizing the horse. How exactly did these rocket scientist drop outs come to the conclusion that this wolf was defending himself?

I did discover that the horse did recover but the “investigators” did not show up for at least 5 days after the incident occured. Initially they had decided that a wolf did not do this then after the veterinarian’s measurements of the canine bites proved it must have been a wolf that with tracks in and around the corral led to the conclusion that the wolf must have been defending its self give the horses past behavior of attacking dogs.

Give me a break. The people here dealing with these wolf managers could use a break. I do hope this horse recovered fully as wolf bites are hard to heal.

Do Wolves Balance an Ecosystem?

Posted in Wolf Politics, EnvironMental, Science Politics, Ecology on May 17th, 2007 by Wild

In a recent new article about gray wolf delisting issues in Wyoming, the following concession was made by US Fish and Wildlife services

In recent months, the Fish and Wildlife Service has said it’s willing to relax rules that currently restrict killing of wolves that states say are killing too many other wildlife. Wyoming Game and Fish officials have said wolves are killing so many elk in some areas of the northwest part of the state that public hunting could be affected in the future.

In the beginning you see the “scientific studies” trotted out by US Fish and Wildlife Service said that wolves balance the ecosystem

Studies at Yellowstone National Park indicate that wolves support a wide variety of other animals. Ravens, foxes, wolverines, coyotes, bald eagles, and even bears feed on the carcasses of animals killed by wolves. Antelope are swift, elk are alert, and mountain goats are adept at climbing steep cliffs, in part because of the long-term effects of wolf predation. Wolves also help maintain the balance between these ungulates (hoofed animals) and their food supply, making room for other plant-eaters such as beavers and small rodents.

If the wolf balancing the ecosystem was occurring, then why would states think their elk herds were being desiccated as is happening in the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area?

This is because wolves with specialized killing, spree and sport killing are wasteful of the animals they kill. While this does in some ways support other scavengers, often these animals can hunt for food on their own so they may benefit by the wolf but do not depend on the wolf for survival. So how is this wolf improving ecosystem balance?

In one of many accounts of wolves spree killing online

Jackson Hole, WY March 19, 2002

My wife and I went snow machining up the Gros Ventre last Friday March 15. Saw 4 wolves run across the road in front of us just east of the Red Rock ranch. Stopped and talked to two volunteers from federal fish and wildlife service, one from Maine and one from North Dakota. Noticed elk tracks everywhere. ( very unusual) Asked how many wolves were here? “About 13″ How many elk are they killing? “Three or more a night” (not counting pregnant cows aborting because of being run and stressed.)

Continued up the road, appalled by the amount of running elk tracks everywhere. (They have been conditioned for years to stay on the feed grounds) Stopped at the Goose Wing feed grounds. Pile of about 20 to 30 dead elk (cows and calves) by the road pulled there by elk feeders. Some had small amounts of flesh eaten (10 to 15) pounds from hind quarters, left to die. Others caught by nose. Nose, lips and tongue eaten off and left to die. Wounded and stressed elk laying away from herd, unable to get up. (4 or more)

Threw up—went home—haven’t slept since.

Folks, night after night Canadian wolves are killing (not eating) your local elk herds. Don’t let the elk go the way of the American Bison!!! Stop the carnage before it’s to late! It’s worse than you have been led to believe.

What is interesting is these “wolf studies” often ignore or do not cover results of populations effected or destroyed by the wolf. Besides the effect on human populations and our domesticated animals other species are impacted including elk and deer.  Studies on Elk populations were just started a few years ago in the Blue Range Wolf Recovery area, why were these studies not done prior to the introduction of the wolf?

Wolves do spread disease, as a highly mobile predator traveling hundreds of miles, they are noted for bringing diseases to new areas. Through the wolves spreading of infectious diseases they affect the lives of fox, artic fox, wolverine and coyote.

Rabies is a common disease that comes to mind noted to be spread by wolves and other dog family members.  But there are other diseases as well.  From a paper written by N. Nazarova that has studied and written about wolves in Russia, in his article titled “The Wolf and the Spread of Disease

Significant damage can be done to wild hooved animals by larval parasites such as echinococcia, cysticercocci, and coenuri, all of which can attack man also. According to data from the Lenningrad Oblast’ during a serious flare-up of cysticercosis not one observed female moose give birth to two calves, whereas in the Murmansk Oblast’ where the outbreak was three times less severe all the moose females had two calves. The same type of situation was noted by Kheruvimov in 1969 in the Tambov Oblast’. There are also reports of the deaths of female moose and female deer caused by echinococcossi and cysticecocci.

In an article from Range Magazine “Groundhog Day at the Wolf Wars” the author mentioned how in talking with Dr. Mech that Dr Mech confirmed how wolves can overtake and decimate the animal population in an area.

I asked him about his study on wolves that had wiped out the deer herd in Superior National Forest in 1975. He said I was absolutely right. I bravely ventured further, “And no hunters were responsible, right?” Right, he assured me as well as the group at the table, and added that the deer herd had still not recovered there. So I sat back to observe the reaction to this bomb planted in the wolf people’s midst. Nothing.

“Aren’t wolves interesting animals? Yes, there is so much we don’t understand about ecology. Do you still return to Ellesmere Island, Dr. Mech? Oh, how wonderful.” Even though he carefully interrupted to explain that the musk oxen and snowshoe hares had also been wiped out there by wolves.

I was stunned back into silence. What good would it do me to remind these people that even Indians and Eskimos trapped and hunted wolves heavily? The facts are either ignored or interpreted to fit the dream world. The rest of the symposium continually reconfirmed my frustrating epiphany that education was not going to work.

In gathering all this information, I cannot understand how this highly mobile disease carrying vicious predator is considered an ecosystem balancer.  To me it seams the wolf has a costly impact on the environment.

Elk and deer can be balanced with proper managed hunting as is outlined in a study on native hunters and the ecosystem balance described at the time of Lewis and Clark. In a blog posting by SOSForests.com.   Is an interesting post on bison in Yellowstone National Park discussing the testimony of Dr. Kay March 20, before the US House of Representatives, Sub-Committee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands, Oversight Hearing on YNP Bison.

In his testimony Dr. Kay states (note I suggest you read the full testimony provided by SOSForests.com)

The natural state of the Yellowstone ecosystem included native hunters, who kept bison and other ungulate populations at very low levels, and thus maintained biodiversity. Native people, not wolves, were the system’s keystone predator. It was not until native populations were decimated by European-introduced diseases and the survivors banished from Yellowstone that bison and elk populations irrupted to unnatural levels.

The reason US Fish and Wildlife Service has said they are willing to relax the rules is because they know as the elk and deer herds decline even more that there will be more wolf pressure in and around homes. Even though many have already been affected by wolves killing our pets and livestock these numbers of affected people will only grow with the opportunistic predator wolf.

US Fish and Wildlife Services has attempted in the past to quiet and divide the voices of the people victimized by wolves in their communities.   As the wolf problem grows US Fish and Wildlife Service must know their cuddly image of wolves and the wolf propaganda machine their careers depend on is in jeopardy.

Climate Momentum Shifting: Prominent Scientists Reverse Belief in Man-made Global Warming - Now Skeptics

Posted in Science Politics on May 16th, 2007 by Wild

Growing Number of Scientists Convert to Skeptics After Reviewing New Research

Following the U.S. Senate’s vote today on a global warming measure (see today’s AP article: Senate Defeats Climate Change Measure,) it is an opportune time to examine the recent and quite remarkable momentum shift taking place in climate science. Many former believers in catastrophic man-made global warming have recently reversed themselves and are now climate skeptics. The names included below are just a sampling of the prominent scientists who have spoken out recently to oppose former Vice President Al Gore, the United Nations, and the media driven “consensus” on man-made global warming.

The list below is just the tip of the iceberg. A more detailed and comprehensive sampling of scientists who have only recently spoken out against climate hysteria will be forthcoming in a soon to be released U.S. Senate report. Please stay tuned to this website, as this new government report is set to redefine the current climate debate.

In the meantime, please review the list of scientists below and ask yourself why the media is missing one of the biggest stories in climate of 2007. Feel free to distribute the partial list of scientists who recently converted to skeptics to your local schools and universities. The voices of rank and file scientists opposing climate doomsayers can serve as a counter to the alarmism that children are being exposed to on a daily basis. (See Washington Post April 16, 2007 article about kids fearing of a “climactic Armageddon” )

The media’s climate fear factor seemingly grows louder even as the latest science grows less and less alarming by the day. (See Der Spiegel May 7, 2007 article: Not the End of the World as We Know It ) It is also worth noting that the proponents of climate fears are increasingly attempting to suppress dissent by skeptics. (See UPI May 10, 2007 article: U.N. official says it’s ‘completely immoral’ to doubt global warming fears )

Once Believers, Now Skeptics ( Link to pdf version )

Geophysicist Dr. Claude Allegre, a top geophysicist and French Socialist who has authored more than 100 scientific articles and written 11 books and received numerous scientific awards including the Goldschmidt Medal from the Geochemical Society of the United States, converted from climate alarmist to skeptic in 2006. Allegre, who was one of the first scientists to sound global warming fears 20 years ago, now says the cause of climate change is “unknown” and accused the “prophets of doom of global warming” of being motivated by money, noting that “the ecology of helpless protesting has become a very lucrative business for some people!” “Glaciers’ chronicles or historical archives point to the fact that climate is a capricious phenomena. This fact is confirmed by mathematical meteorological theories. So, let us be cautious,” Allegre explained in a September 21, 2006 article in the French newspaper L’EXPRESS. The National Post in Canada also profiled Allegre on March 2, 2007, noting “Allegre has the highest environmental credentials. The author of early environmental books, he fought successful battles to protect the ozone layer from CFCs and public health from lead pollution.” Allegre now calls fears of a climate disaster “simplistic and obscuring the true dangers” mocks “the greenhouse-gas fanatics whose proclamations consist in denouncing man’s role on the climate without doing anything about it except organizing conferences and preparing protocols that become dead letters.” Allegre, a member of both the French and U.S. Academy of Sciences, had previously expressed concern about manmade global warming. “By burning fossil fuels, man enhanced the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which has raised the global mean temperature by half a degree in the last century,” Allegre wrote 20 years ago. In addition, Allegre was one of 1500 scientists who signed a November 18, 1992 letter titled “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity” in which the scientists warned that global warming’s “potential risks are very great.” and written 11 books and received numerous scientific awards including the Goldschmidt Medal from the Geochemical Society of the United States converted from climate alarmist to skeptic in 2006. Wiskel was once such a big believer in man-made global warming that he set out to build a “Kyoto house” in honor of the UN sanctioned Kyoto Protocol which was signed in 1997. Wiskel wanted to prove that the Kyoto Protocol’s goals were achievable by people making small changes in their lives. But after further examining the science behind Kyoto, Wiskel reversed his scientific views completely and became such a strong skeptic, that he recently wrote a book titled “The Emperor’s New Climate: Debunking the Myth of Global Warming.” A November 15, 2006 Edmonton Sun article explains Wiskel’s conversion while building his “Kyoto house”: “Instead, he said he realized global warming theory was full of holes and ‘red flags,’ and became convinced that humans are not responsible for rising temperatures.” Wiskel now says “the truth has to start somewhere.” Noting that the Earth has been warming for 18,000 years, Wiskel told the Canadian newspaper, “If this happened once and we were the cause of it, that would be cause for concern. But glaciers have been coming and going for billions of years.” Wiskel also said that global warming has gone “from a science to a religion” and noted that research money is being funneled into promoting climate alarmism instead of funding areas he considers more worthy. “If you funnel money into things that can’t be changed, the money is not going into the places that it is needed,” he said.Astrophysicist Dr. Nir Shaviv, one of Israel’s top young award winning scientists, recanted his belief that manmade emissions were driving climate change. “”Like many others, I was personally sure that CO2 is the bad culprit in the story of global warming. But after carefully digging into the evidence, I realized that things are far more complicated than the story sold to us by many climate scientists or the stories regurgitated by the media. In fact, there is much more than meets the eye,” Shaviv said in February 2, 2007 Canadian National Post article. According to Shaviv, the C02 temperature link is only “incriminating circumstantial evidence.” “Solar activity can explain a large part of the 20th-century global warming” and “it is unlikely that [the solar climate link] does not exist,” Shaviv noted pointing to the impact cosmic- rays have on the atmosphere. According to the National Post, Shaviv believes that even a doubling of CO2 in the atmosphere by 2100 “will not dramatically increase the global temperature.” “Even if we halved the CO2 output, and the CO2 increase by 2100 would be, say, a 50% increase relative to today instead of a doubled amount, the expected reduction in the rise of global temperature would be less than 0.5C. This is not significant,” Shaviv explained. Shaviv also wrote on August 18, 2006 that a colleague of his believed that “CO2 should have a large effect on climate” so “he set out to reconstruct the phanerozoic temperature. He wanted to find the CO2 signature in the data, but since there was none, he slowly had to change his views.” Shaviv believes there will be more scientists converting to man-made global warming skepticism as they discover the dearth of evidence. “I think this is common to many of the scientists who think like us (that is, that CO2 is a secondary climate driver). Each one of us was working in his or her own niche. While working there, each one of us realized that things just don’t add up to support the AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) picture. So many had to change their views,” he wrote.

Mathematician & engineer Dr. David Evans, who did carbon accounting for the Australian Government, recently detailed his conversion to a skeptic. “I devoted six years to carbon accounting, building models for the Australian government to estimate carbon emissions from land use change and forestry. When I started that job in 1999 the evidence that carbon emissions caused global warming seemed pretty conclusive, but since then new evidence has weakened the case that carbon emissions are the main cause. I am now skeptical,” Evans wrote in an April 30, 2007 blog. “But after 2000 the evidence for carbon emissions gradually got weaker — better temperature data for the last century, more detailed ice core data, then laboratory evidence that cosmic rays precipitate low clouds,” Evans wrote. “As Lord Keynes famously said, ‘When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?’” he added. Evans noted how he benefited from climate fears as a scientist. “And the political realm in turn fed money back into the scientific community. By the late 1990’s, lots of jobs depended on the idea that carbon emissions caused global warming. Many of them were bureaucratic, but there were a lot of science jobs created too. I was on that gravy train, making a high wage in a science job that would not have existed if we didn’t believe carbon emissions caused global warming. And so were lots of people around me; and there were international conferences full of such people. And we had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. We were working to save the planet! But starting in about 2000, the last three of the four pieces of evidence outlined above fell away or reversed,” Evans wrote. “The pre-2000 ice core data was the central evidence for believing that atmospheric carbon caused temperature increases. The new ice core data shows that past warmings were *not* initially caused by rises in atmospheric carbon, and says nothing about the strength of any amplification. This piece of evidence casts reasonable doubt that atmospheric carbon had any role in past warmings, while still allowing the possibility that it had a supporting role,” he added. “Unfortunately politics and science have become even more entangled. The science of global warming has become a partisan political issue, so positions become more entrenched. Politicians and the public prefer simple and less-nuanced messages. At the moment the political climate strongly supports carbon emissions as the cause of global warming, to the point of sometimes rubbishing or silencing critics,” he concluded. (Evans bio link )

Climate researcher Dr. Tad Murty, former Senior Research Scientist for Fisheries and Oceans in Canada, also reversed himself from believer in man-made climate change to a skeptic. “I stated with a firm belief about global warming, until I started working on it myself,” Murty explained on August 17, 2006. “I switched to the other side in the early 1990’s when Fisheries and Oceans Canada asked me to prepare a position paper and I started to look into the problem seriously,” Murty explained. Murty was one of the 60 scientists who wrote an April 6, 2006 letter urging withdrawal of Kyoto to Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper which stated in part, “If, back in the mid-1990s, we knew what we know today about climate, Kyoto would almost certainly not exist, because we would have concluded it was not necessary.”

Botanist Dr. David Bellamy, a famed UK environmental campaigner, former lecturer at Durham University and host of a popular UK TV series on wildlife, recently converted into a skeptic after reviewing the science and now calls global warming fears “poppycock.” According to a May 15, 2005 article in the UK Sunday Times, Bellamy said “global warming is largely a natural phenomenon. The world is wasting stupendous amounts of money on trying to fix something that can’t be fixed.” “The climate-change people have no proof for their claims. They have computer models which do not prove anything,” Bellamy added. Bellamy’s conversion on global warming did not come without a sacrifice as several environmental groups have ended their association with him because of his views on climate change. The severing of relations came despite Bellamy’s long activism for green campaigns. The UK Times reported Bellamy “won respect from hardline environmentalists with his campaigns to save Britain’s peat bogs and other endangered habitats. In Tasmania he was arrested when he tried to prevent loggers cutting down a rainforest.”

Climate scientist Dr. Chris de Freitas of The University of Auckland, N.Z., also converted from a believer in man-made global warming to a skeptic. “At first I accepted that increases in human caused additions of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere would trigger changes in water vapor etc. and lead to dangerous ‘global warming,’ But with time and with the results of research, I formed the view that, although it makes for a good story, it is unlikely that the man-made changes are drivers of significant climate variation.” de Freitas wrote on August 17, 2006. “I accept there may be small changes. But I see the risk of anything serious to be minute,” he added. “One could reasonably argue that lack of evidence is not a good reason for complacency. But I believe the billions of dollars committed to GW research and lobbying for GW and for Kyoto treaties etc could be better spent on uncontroversial and very real environmental problems (such as air pollution, poor sanitation, provision of clean water and improved health services) that we know affect tens of millions of people,” de Freitas concluded. de Freitas was one of the 60 scientists who wrote an April 6, 2006 letter urging withdrawal of Kyoto to Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper which stated in part, “Significant [scientific] advances have been made since the [Kyoto] protocol was created, many of which are taking us away from a concern about increasing greenhouse gases.”

Meteorologist Dr. Reid Bryson, the founding chairman of the Department of Meteorology at University of Wisconsin (now the Department of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, was pivotal in promoting the coming ice age scare of the 1970’s ( See Time Magazine’s 1974 article “Another Ice Age” citing Bryson: & see Newsweek’s 1975 article “The Cooling World” citing Bryson) has now converted into a leading global warming skeptic. In February 8, 2007 Bryson dismissed what he terms “sky is falling” man-made global warming fears. Bryson, was on the United Nations Global 500 Roll of Honor and was identified by the British Institute of Geographers as the most frequently cited climatologist in the world. “Before there were enough people to make any difference at all, two million years ago, nobody was changing the climate, yet the climate was changing, okay?” Bryson told the May 2007 issue of Energy Cooperative News. “All this argument is the temperature going up or not, it’s absurd. Of course it’s going up. It has gone up since the early 1800s, before the Industrial Revolution, because we’re coming out of the Little Ice Age, not because we’re putting more carbon dioxide into the air,” Bryson said. “You can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide,” he added. “We cannot say what part of that warming was due to mankind’s addition of ‘greenhouse gases’ until we consider the other possible factors, such as aerosols. The aerosol content of the atmosphere was measured during the past century, but to my knowledge this data was never used. We can say that the question of anthropogenic modification of the climate is an important question — too important to ignore. However, it has now become a media free-for-all and a political issue more than a scientific problem,” Bryson explained in 2005.

Global warming author and economist Hans H.J. Labohm started out as a man-made global warming believer but he later switched his view after conducting climate research. Labohm wrote on August 19, 2006, “I started as a anthropogenic global warming believer, then I read the [UN’s IPCC] Summary for Policymakers and the research of prominent skeptics.” “After that, I changed my mind,” Labohn explained. Labohn co-authored the 2004 book “Man-Made Global Warming: Unraveling a Dogma,” with chemical engineer Dick Thoenes who was the former chairman of the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society. Labohm was one of the 60 scientists who wrote an April 6, 2006 letter urging withdrawal of Kyoto to Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper which stated in part, “’Climate change is real’ is a meaningless phrase used repeatedly by activists to convince the public that a climate catastrophe is looming and humanity is the cause. Neither of these fears is justified. Global climate changes all the time due to natural causes and the human impact still remains impossible to distinguish from this natural ‘noise.’”
Paleoclimatologist Tim Patterson, of Carlton University in Ottawa converted from believer in C02 driving the climate change to a skeptic. “I taught my students that CO2 was the prime driver of climate change,” Patterson wrote on April 30, 2007. Patterson said his “conversion” happened following his research on “the nature of paleo-commercial fish populations in the NE Pacific.” “[My conversion from believer to climate skeptic] came about approximately 5-6 years ago when results began to come in from a major NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) Strategic Project Grant where I was PI (principle investigator),” Patterson explained. “Over the course of about a year, I switched allegiances,” he wrote. “As the proxy results began to come in, we were astounded to find that paleoclimatic and paleoproductivity records were full of cycles that corresponded to various sun-spot cycles. About that time, [geochemist] Jan Veizer and others began to publish reasonable hypotheses as to how solar signals could be amplified and control climate,” Patterson noted. Patterson says his conversion “probably cost me a lot of grant money. However, as a scientist I go where the science takes me and not were activists want me to go.” Patterson now asserts that more and more scientists are converting to climate skeptics. “When I go to a scientific meeting, there’s lots of opinion out there, there’s lots of discussion (about climate change). I was at the Geological Society of America meeting in Philadelphia in the fall and I would say that people with my opinion were probably in the majority,” Patterson told the Winnipeg Sun on February 13, 2007. Patterson, who believes the sun is responsible for the recent warm up of the Earth, ridiculed the environmentalists and the media for not reporting the truth. “But if you listen to [Canadian environmental activist David] Suzuki and the media, it’s like a tiger chasing its tail. They try to outdo each other and all the while proclaiming that the debate is over but it isn’t — come out to a scientific meeting sometime,” Patterson said. In a separate interview on April 26, 2007 with a Canadian newspaper, Patterson explained that the scientific proof favors skeptics. “I think the proof in the pudding, based on what (media and governments) are saying, (is) we’re about three quarters of the way (to disaster) with the doubling of CO2 in the atmosphere,” he said. “The world should be heating up like crazy by now, and it’s not. The temperatures match very closely with the solar cycles.” Physicist Dr. Zbigniew Jaworowski, chairman of the Central Laboratory for the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Radiological Protection in Warsaw, took a scientific journey from a believer of man-made climate change in the form of global cooling in the 1970’s all the way to converting to a skeptic of current predictions of catastrophic man-made global warming. “At the beginning of the 1970s I believed in man-made climate cooling, and therefore I started a study on the effects of industrial pollution on the global atmosphere, using glaciers as a history book on this pollution,” Dr. Jaworowski, wrote on August 17, 2006. “With the advent of man-made warming political correctness in the beginning of 1980s, I already had a lot of experience with polar and high altitude ice, and I have serious problems in accepting the reliability of ice core CO2 studies,” Jaworowski added. Jaworowski, who has published many papers on climate with a focus on CO2 measurements in ice cores, also dismissed the UN IPCC summary and questioned what the actual level of C02 was in the atmosphere in a March 16, 2007 report in EIR science entitled “CO2: The Greatest Scientific Scandal of Our Time.” “We thus find ourselves in the situation that the entire theory of man-made global warming—with its repercussions in science, and its important consequences for politics and the global economy—is based on ice core studies that provided a false picture of the atmospheric CO2 levels,” Jaworowski wrote. “For the past three decades, these well-known direct CO2 measurements, recently compiled and analyzed by Ernst-Georg Beck (Beck 2006a, Beck 2006b, Beck 2007), were completely ignored by climatologists—and not because they were wrong. Indeed, these measurements were made by several Nobel Prize winners, using the techniques that are standard textbook procedures in chemistry, biochemistry, botany, hygiene, medicine, nutrition, and ecology. The only reason for rejection was that these measurements did not fit the hypothesis of anthropogenic climatic warming. I regard this as perhaps the greatest scientific scandal of our time,” Jaworowski wrote. “The hypothesis, in vogue in the 1970s, stating that emissions of industrial dust will soon induce the new Ice Age, seem now to be a conceited anthropocentric exaggeration, bringing into discredit the science of that time. The same fate awaits the present,” he added. Jaworowski believes that cosmic rays and solar activity are major drivers of the Earth’s climate. Jaworowski was one of the 60 scientists who wrote an April 6, 2006 letter urging withdrawal of Kyoto to Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper which stated in part: “It may be many years yet before we properly understand the Earth’s climate system. Nevertheless, significant advances have been made since the protocol was created, many of which are taking us away from a concern about increasing greenhouse gases.”Paleoclimatologist Dr. Ian D. Clark, professor of the Department of Earth Sciences at University of Ottawa, reversed his views on man-made climate change after further examining the evidence. “I used to agree with these dramatic warnings of climate disaster. I taught my students that most of the increase in temperature of the past century was due to human contribution of C02. The association seemed so clear and simple. Increases of greenhouse gases were driving us towards a climate catastrophe,” Clark said in a 2005 documentary “Climate Catastrophe Cancelled: What You’re Not Being Told About the Science of Climate Change.” “However, a few years ago, I decided to look more closely at the science and it astonished me. In fact there is no evidence of humans being the cause. There is, however, overwhelming evidence of natural causes such as changes in the output of the sun. This has completely reversed my views on the Kyoto protocol,” Clark explained. “Actually, many other leading climate researchers also have serious concerns about the science underlying the [Kyoto] Protocol,” he added.

Environmental geochemist Dr. Jan Veizer, professor emeritus of University of Ottawa, converted from believer to skeptic after conducting scientific studies of climate history. “I simply accepted the (global warming) theory as given,” Veizer wrote on April 30, 2007 about predictions that increasing C02 in the atmosphere was leading to a climate catastrophe. “The final conversion came when I realized that the solar/cosmic ray connection gave far more consistent picture with climate, over many time scales, than did the CO2 scenario,” Veizer wrote. “It was the results of my work on past records, on geological time scales, that led me to realize the discrepancies with empirical observations. Trying to understand the background issues of modeling led to realization of the assumptions and uncertainties involved,” Veizer explained. “The past record strongly favors the solar/cosmic alternative as the principal climate driver,” he added. Veizer acknowledgez the Earth has been warming and he believes in the scientific value of climate modeling. “The major point where I diverge from the IPCC scenario is my belief that it underestimates the role of natural variability by proclaiming CO2 to be the only reasonable source of additional energy in the planetary balance. Such additional energy is needed to drive the climate. The point is that most of the temperature, in both nature and models, arises from the greenhouse of water vapor (model language ‘positive water vapor feedback’,) Veizer wrote. “Thus to get more temperature, more water vapor is needed. This is achieved by speeding up the water cycle by inputting more energy into the system,” he continued. “Note that it is not CO2 that is in the models but its presumed energy equivalent (model language ‘prescribed CO2’). Yet, the models (and climate) would generate a more or less similar outcome regardless where this additional energy is coming from. This is why the solar/cosmic connection is so strongly opposed, because it can influence the global energy budget which, in turn, diminishes the need for an energy input from the CO2 greenhouse,” he wrote.

IN RESPONSE: Ranching families at the mercy of roaming wolves

Posted in Wolf Politics on May 16th, 2007 by Wild

The story on Estrella, the recently widowed Mexican gray wolf, contained a glaring error I wish to correct (“Springs native still running free,” Metro, May 12). Ranchers do not shoot Mexican wolves; they are not even allowed lethal take permits. No rancher has yet to have been accused, tried or convicted of killing wolves in this region. To say otherwise is inflammatory and untrue.

Ranchers have worked within the confines of the current rule published in the federal register — a claim the Fish and Wildlife Service cannot make. When a lethal take order is implemented, it is for one reason only — the wolf or wolves have become habitual livestock predators. This order is carried out by the Interagency Field Team running the program. Ranchers have nothing to do with it and are mere victims, waiting until enough of their cattle are slaughtered that the agency will pay a little attention.

Although the FWS claim each lethal take order is due to a maximum of three dead cows or calves, the standard operating procedure allows the agency to claim multiple kills in a 24-hour period as one depredation or one death. So even three livestock depredation incidents can potentially mean as many as a dozen dead animals. In fact, in at least two separate cases, there have been four kills in a single 24 hour period attributed to a pack, which only led the FWS to claim one strike against the wolf or wolves. This is not in their rule; they simply made it up when cattle kills got so high they had to do something.

These days, the trick is to simply claim the wolf was not a collared animal, so there is nothing they can do in spite of all the kills that are confirmed. And Defenders of Wildlife will not compensate for all confirmed wolf kills in Arizona and New Mexico any longer, because members don’t like the number of wolves that have to be managed for livestock depredation purposes. This is economically destroying families.

I know nothing about Estrella and her family, but I know that FWS is playing fast and loose with the rule, and we ranchers are paying a high price. The media owe it to ranchers to give us a fair shake and not paint us as wolf killers, when there is no evidence or cause to do so, especially when we have acted with good faith and reasonable expectations for nine years without seeing any sign of reciprocation from the agencies managing the program.

I suggest The Gazette read up on the reality of this program, because a rule change is in the works and Colorado is on the radar for released wolves. It would certainly be in the state’s best interest to get with the program.

Wired Blogger is Not Plugged In on Issues of the West, Wolves and EnvironMental Extreme

Posted in Wolf Politics, EnvironMental, Logic Fringe, Most Popular, Apathetic Press (AP) on May 15th, 2007 by Wild

Silly little blogger trying to be cleaver and poke fun at a congressman’s serious statement. Like a little dog nipping at the heels of reality in his blog story “Congressman Wants to Release Wolves in Central Park?”. This blogger, Luke, thought the congressman was joking but he was not, little does Luke know reality does bite.

This low bandwidth blogger’s brain could not comprehend spending any seek time doing any research on what is really going on out west with the wolf program. I guess Luke was terrified he might burn a few of his 1980s circuit boards. I bet he is still using a cassette tape recorder to store his data. No wonder he is having so much trouble with seek time and storage, have to get that volume just right.

No idea what I am talking about dear blogger, ah that is because you are a wired poser some of us really did the wiring. I will let whirl your disks on that one for a bit. Don’t over heat.

This unwired blogger states the congressman made the following statement

Nothing is more attractive to a wolf than the sound of a crying baby, Pearce said. It would only be fair to visit the same fanged fears on the people of New York City and Washington, D.C

I like this blogger was not there, so I am not 100% sure as to Mr. Pearce’s intention, while 2 millisecond Luke assumed it must have been a joke. I know it was not a joke. Because we live with this “joke” of a destructive wolf program every day.

Like this congressman and I think all people should have to live with what we have had to live with for nearly 10 years. Walk in my shoes for a minute Luke and many your disabled soul will become enabled and even if only connected 10.0 Mbps the message will be clear (if your storage device and processor can handle it).

I can surmise that this congressman was attempting relate what is happening here to how it might be in Washington DC, since DC is part of wolves historical range and the prey base is there. This statement I am sure was to help people like this low baud rate blogger understand what we deal with day to day living with these horrible habituated wolves.

But this bandwidth lacking blogger like others sadistically enjoy taking pot shots at something they think is absurd without checking facts (poor seek time will get ya) or thinking about what if this was happening to them. I guess their souls got lost in a disk crash.

This blogger does not even considered for a millisecond the harassment we live with in the Blue Range Wolf Recover Area every day.

I ask this loose wired slogger, if he asked anyone that has to live with these wolves what it is like with wolves showing up in their yards constantly?

Doubtful since his poor search and seek techniques have already been exposed and are in need of an upgrade. Some reason he thinks it is about cows but it is about public safety as the Congressman no doubt pointed out and as attempting to get people to understand. These wolves are not dogs…they are wolves an efficient and terrifying predator hanging around our homes.

Maybe a few wolves in this blogger Luke’s concrete jungle of a yard harassing him would help this low bandwidth femto understand that we cannot walk out our front doors without these habituated wolves or their handlers US Fish and Wildlife Services or their State Game Official comrades tromping on our private land to protect the wolves not us. How about a 2 strike human biting Durango pack member in your yard. If the female wolf does not bite your fingers off maybe you will still be able to type and continue to publish your joke blog.

Currently, we have the horse slaughtering (the piranhas the Congressman mentioned) Aspen pack denning on private land and using their spring to drink. How about if a pedophile lived next door and then for giggles comes over and uses your kitchen like a convenience store.

Since I know Luke has had a humorectomy, to be clear for Luke that is also not a joke. This is what we have lived with for nearly 10 years, you would not last a week under the US Fish and Wildlife Service Wolf regime.

I think the way our congressman described this is much nicer depiction than what is really going on here. Can you image each day checking your wolf radio monitor (yes we have to be wolf wired here) like you check your email to see what direction you can travel on your property each day when you leave your house?

But since Luke like others do not get the daily danger we are in, I guess they will have to experience it for themselves. That is what the congressman suggested.

I will make it simple for Luke’s low baud transmission.

These habituated wolvesfollow you when you go hiking, they follow ATVs, they hang out in peoples yards, they come into camps, they come near children, they attack near children, they attack and kill dogs, the slaughter little girl’s beloved horse, eat the fetus only out of an elk leaving the cow elk to die, they rip baby calves out when they are being born and then tear the milk utter off the mother cow leaving her to die. All documented in photos so you cannot be mislead by disneyesque view of wolves. Not to mention spree or sport killing.

Since I know Luke has a seeking problem (besides the humorectomy), here are links to articles on attacks and kills of people in North America by wolves.

Luke, if you still think this is a joke, I have a few choice places for you to camp or a few front porches for you to sit on. Not to worry when you get attacked or harassed, US Fish and Wildlife Service will claim the wolves were uncollared and it was your entire fault.

Here are the rules of engagement just you are clear on the rules we live under. Your dog is a free kill. I will let you think about the act of biting and what that means. Welcome to getting connected the real world.

Others like SOSForests have no problem with their seek time nor their decision tree algorithms, as SOSForests improves on the congressman’s suggestion. I am sure this blogger did not have to branch too far to come up with this suggestion being that he understands what is really happening out west. My only upgrade to SOSForest is to toss in some members of the press, wolf supporting environMental groups, and one loose wired low bandwidth blogger named Luke O’Brien.

This blogger, Luke O’Brien, is now the newest members of the Apathetic Press (AP).

So Luke if you have upgraded your database storage on this subject and now feel bad that you just did not have the capacity to understand and now your soul has been rebooted, if you would like to redeem yourself, print a retraction and donate to help pay for Maggie’s vet bills. After all if you support this wolf program you should help pay for the program.

Maggie is an adorable little dog and after being attacked and nearly killed by wolves protecting her child’s play yard just outside her front door. She can no longer chase a ball or stick as she will never be the same. What if the child had been out in the play yard when the wolf charged in and attacked Maggie? We have already had a case were a dog intercepted when a wolf charged in on a child.

This program has greatly affected our lives. That government that has forced these wolves upon our yards and homes should have to live with these wolves themselves. Thank you Steve Pearce for supporting the people that live in your district.

Wolves have Attacked Humans; Wolf Cult Refuses to Believe Wolves are Dangerous

Posted in Wolf Politics, EnvironMental on May 12th, 2007 by Wild

Sometimes it just shocks me what some people will believe. Maybe this is how cults stay in business.

Besides kissing with wolves (How to get to First Base with a Wolf) there are actually people that believe wolves are good neighbors as shown in a recent post on SOSForests.com.

I always wonder when and where they people joined the Wolf Cult. I am not sure what kind of deprogramming they need but facts do not seam to work.

A simple internet search will provide evidence of many human wolf conflicts including documented by the Alaskan government. Maybe in joining the cult their ability to type certain key words into search engines has been affected.

Mike who runs the site was right to point out that

wolves are not wonderful animals or good neighbors. Wolves are blood-thirsty predators that attack and kill pets, livestock, children, and adults. Blood-thirsty predators do NOT make good neighbors, and we do NOT “need” to find a way to co-exist with them.

That being said Mike also points out some of the attacks by wolves on people since many people are in denial and think wolf attacks have not occurred.

Since historians seem to be having problems digging up this information, here are a few documented cases of wolves killing and/or injuring humans. Although wolves should not be excessively feared, and wolves that kill humans are very rare, we do need the truth told by someone.

Research: Scott, Peter A., et al. “Aggressive Behavior by Wolves Toward Humans.” Journal of Mammalogy 66.4 (1985): 807-809; Munthe, Kathleen and J. Howard Hutchinson. “A Wolf-Human Encounter on Ellesmere Island, Canada” Journal of Mammalogy 59.4 (1978): 876-878; McNay, Mark E. “Interactions in Alaska and Canada: A Review of the Case History.” Wildlife Society Bulletin 30.3 (2002): 831-843.

Scientist: Arctic wolf attacks a scientist in Canada (1985—Arctic, Vol. 38, 1985).

Female Researcher: Three penned wolves had to be killed before rescuers could get to the body of a female wildlife reserve employee that the wolves had killed in their pen (1996—The Kingston Wig Standard, Ontario, Canada, April 20).

Trapper and Two Indians: An elderly trapper did not return to the post office as promised, so two Indians were sent to find him. All three were killed by wolves (1922— Port Arthur, Ontario newspaper, Dec. 27).

Negro Man: Two Negro men were attacked in Kentucky by wolves on the way home from visiting girlfriends. One survived by climbing a tree (1851—John James Audubon, “Black American Wolf” in Quadrupeds of North America).

Farmer and Son: A pack of wolves attacked and ate a farmer and his son (1888—The Saint Paul Daily Globe, March 8 ).

Eskimo Woman: She was strangled by a wolf as her husband rushed to her assistance (1829—John Richardson in “Fauna Boreali-Americana”).

Sick Indians: Not only did wolves come into the Indian camps and eat corpses dead of smallpox, but also attacked, killed, and ate the sick (1770—Peter Kalm in “Travels in North America”).

Injured: Several instances of nonfatal, but serious attacks in Canada and Alaska have appeared recently in the news: Algonquin Provincial Park, 1996; Yakutat, Alaska, 2000; Vargas Island, British Columbia, 2002 (The Wolf Society of Great Britain, www.myinternet.co.uk/wsgb/index.htm).

Scary Wolf Photo

Another extensive source for many of wolf attacks on humans comes from Abundant Wildlife Society of North America. Many of the attacks listed were documented by John James Audubon. In one instance, T. R. Mader, taped an interview of the following wolf attack.

A forester employed by the Province of British Colombia was checking some timber for possible harvest in the 1980s. He was met by a small pack of three wolves. The forester yelled at the wolves to frighten them away. Instead, the wolves came towards him in a threatening manner and he was forced to retreat and climb a nearby tree for safety.

The wolves remained at the base of the tree. The forester had a portable radio, but was unable to contact his base, due to distance, until evening. When the call for help came in, two Conservation Officers with the Ministry of Environment were flown to the area by floatplane to rescue the treed forester.

When the Conservation Officers arrived, the forester was still in the tree and one wolf, the apparent leader of the pack, was still at the base of the tree. The officers, armed with shotguns, shot at the wolf and missed. The wolf ran for cover and then started circling and howling near the two officers. After a couple missed shots, the wolf was finally shot and killed.

The wolf tested negative for rabies. It appeared healthy in every respect, but was very lean. The Conservation Officers felt the attack was caused by hunger. (Taped Interviews and a photo of the wolf on file at Abundant Wildlife Society of North America.)

A full read of the Abundant Wildlife Society of North America list of wolf attacks should be enough to assist in deprogramming anyone that wolves are anything but dangerous predators.

Wolves Do Not Kill, Cattle Kill!

Posted in EnvironMental, Logic Fringe on May 11th, 2007 by Black Wolf

I was leaving one of the wolf meetings. I tend to be very quiet and even hang out with the wolf groupies. I love to hear what they have to say as I find it quiet amusing.

I watched a person leaving the meeting and they tossed a piece of paper that a wolf groupie had given them. My interest was sparked and I just had to see what the wolf groupie had given this obviously anti wolf person.

Pro Wolf Propaganda

I just had to chuckle at the logic here. I added the red box so it is clear where the killer cattle dealing with the non killer wolves live.

These people really hate cows!

So a few car crashes in our county over 10 years ago equates with cows being killers.   That is the new logic for you.

The wolves here have not only harassed children, hung around camps but also decimated many business some not even cattle related.  Their are no new elk caves in many areas.

Some of these wolves are reportedly dragging the baby calf out of mom when it is being born then ripping the milk bag off mom and leaving her to die.

Yet cattle kill and wolves do not kill.

I wonder in her scientific investigation this wolf groupie looked at the number of crashes due to drugs, drinking or even hitting dogs, trees or deer?

Logic from the fringe of reality or really good drugs?

US Fish and Wildlife and Environmental Extreme Huff and Puff at a Tough little New Mexico County’s Door

Posted in Wolf Politics, Most Popular on May 8th, 2007 by Wild

It is all in a days work in Catron County, New Mexico. The people that call the County home did not ask to be famous or to have the wolves constantly at their door step. But that is just where these habitual wolves keep showing up. It is common place in Catron County to not only see a wolf but have one in your yard, attacking cattle, killing stock dogs, pets and horses, and even threatening people.

But when federal officials of US Fish and Wildlife service decided to break their own Standard Operating Procedures and release a 2 strike wolf that had bitten someone, they went a little too far. A congressional aid requested the agency stop or delay the release of these risky Mexican gray wolves, and in what appears to be a shocking reaction to that request, US Fish and Wildlife Service released the animals a day earlier than planned.

Now the Feds have pushed the county and its residents just a bit too far. A few days ago Catron enacted its Wolf Ordinance to protect their citizens’ and officially requested the agency remove the problem wolves.

One can almost hear the timber falling in the forests to supply the frivolous tax payer funded lawsuits that are being threatened by self proclaimed extreme environmentalists. More trees are being used by Forest Guardians on this orgy of media outreach to string up a poor rural county, than the trees incinerated in the Cerro Grande fire.

It appears that Catron county is following the rules and that these “wolf mangers” and donation funded environmental wolf groupies are tripping over themselves to not only to get their names in the paper but to claim how this county is simply not allowed to protect its citizens’.

Instead of being on the ground where they are needed to clean up their newest self inflicted Mexican wolf mess, US Fish and Wildlife Service are actually out monitoring a little wolf blog. Your tax dollars are at work in a CYA campaign that knows no bounds.

I talked with the lady that runs this WolfCrossing.org website today and she told me that on numerous occasions in just one day the US Fish and Wildlife Service could be documented accessing the site based on the IP address she was seeing.

She mentioned that US Fish and Wildlife Service had not yet showed up to help people with the wolves or publish the over due wolf flight reports but they had time to monitor her blog. This blogger mentioned that it appeared that US Fish and Wildlife service had been working on a reason why recent killed cattle couldn’t be the Durango pack and passed that information on to Forest Guardians for their press release.

So why are all these government officials and extreme environmentalists huffing and puffing and trying to blow a New Mexican County’s ordinance down? Because the locals were right. The wolves did not stay in the wilderness as the “wolf experts” said they would.

Shortly after this dangerous Durango pack female was released from her soft enclosure she and her habituated mate high tailed it for Catron County. They picked up some other wolves on their way, coaxed them out of the wilderness and had a little killing spree in some cattle.

The cow they picked was pregnant and her calf never even got a breath before it was eaten up, then they went back to the cow that was chased down and killed brutally after or during the time she gave birth.

Witnesses saw the wolves on the cow that matched the Durango pack description. The Durango pack was also confirmed to be near from a wolf flight report on the following day. The day the cow was killed some how the Durango pack could not be located by the “wolf mangers” plane, eventhough the plane flew right over the people standing beside the dead cows body.

After the killing spree, the Durango pair showed up at a family home in the area at about 6 am and spent the morning in the front yard leaving plenty of tracks to prove another eyewitness account.

The resulting cow depredation (kill) report has been spun to attribute the dead cow to unknown wolves in the area. The cow was confirmed to be killed by wolves and because the little calf never breathed during his horrific forced delivery, he isn’t confirmed as a wolf kill.

The two legged wolves are still huffing and puffing at the door but Catron county has built the house out of brick and little red riding hood has a blog.
